Welcome to First Grade!

welcome message
I am so excited to be your child's teacher this year! We have a tremendously thrilling, and busy year ahead!

A little about me: My name is Lauren Fuller. This is my first year teaching elementary school. However, I went through extensive training at Sam Houston State University to prepare me to teach your child. My degree is in Interdisciplinary Studies with Early Childhood through 6th grade & English as a Second Language Certifications. I also did my student teaching at Meador Elementary.

I grew up in and around Houston, Texas most of my life. Though, I spent a year traveling and doing mission work in my early adulthood in Mexico and Argentina. That experience gave me many opportunities to work with children from a different culture than my own. It has also helped me to develop a respect for different cultures, languages, backgrounds, and ways of life.

I have an amazing husband, Dane, whom I love very much. He attended A&M and has a degree in Civil Engineering.  We have a baby boy named Alexander. He is such a joy, and so much fun to spend time with. We also have three dogs named Shyanne, Cowboy, and Liebe. We often play with them outside. Our favorite hobbies are going to the movies, or trying new restaurants.

Teaching has always been a passion for me. I've known I wanted to be a teacher since I was five years old, and I've worked tirelessly to obtain my degree to be able to achieve that goal. I have a love for learning, so it is my hope that my students would also grow to love learning as much as I do.

I firmly believe that a successful year starts with an open line of communication between parents and teachers. The opportunity to teach your child is a privilege and a responsibility I take very seriously. I will do my best to motivate, comfort, and appreciate your child and all the gifts he or she will bring to my classroom. With that said; however, I will need your help. Whether it’s ensuring your child has completed homework assignments or simply asking your child, “What surprised or excited you in the classroom today?”, your encouragement and interest make an enormous difference!

Please check this website for information throughout the school year. Here you will find important information about what
we are doing in our classroom! I will keep you informed of the work your child will be doing, as well as any special events going on at our school or in our classroom. With your help and active interest, we will all have a wonderful and productive year.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email or call me. You can also get in touch with me through our Class Dojo, where I will be sending frequent reminders, and you can check in on your child's behavior throughout the day. Please, follow our class Twitter account for class work, and updates! I look forward to working with you and your child!

Kind Regards,

Mrs. Fuller
