Summit groups for STAAR review

We are quickly coming to an end of our summit groups for the upcoming STAAR testing.  We have enjoyed giving all of our scholars a quick review of the most needed skills.  On Thursday, April 5th we return to our Team teaching model.  Student will need to bring back thier binders on this day.  Please check back Friday, April 6th and again on Monday, April 9th for updates about STAAR testing.

December 19. Field Trip Day!

Our field trip is tomorrow...Here are some pointers!
  1. Be here by 8:10 our first scheduled activity is at 9:15 at the museum.
  2. Please pack your lunch in a disposable gallon zip lock type bag. All food needs to fit inside the bag.  Write your child's name in BOLD letters on the the baggie. This way we can distribute them easily. NO LUNCH KITS.  We will not be bringing food back with us.
  3. NO CELL PHONES!  The chaperones and I will be happy to take some pictures.  Cell phones can be left in backpacks here at school.  I do not want to risk losing a cell phone at the museum.
  4. Wear a Meador or Willis ISD shirt if you have one.  Kids may also need some type of hoodie or jacket they can wear around their waist if they get hot. If you do not have a Meador or Willis ISD shirt try to wear purple, black or grey.  It helps us get a quick count of our scholars.
  5. Students may bring a small amount of money to spend in the gift shop, but can not guarantee that we will have time to stop there.
We have been studying FOSSILS in science and I can't wait to go and see all of the wonderful displays at the museum.   I know we will have a wonderful time.

Moon Phases Project

We have finished recording the Moon Phases for the month of January! Now it’s your turn to come up with a creative way to display the phases of the moon.  Think of a creative way to show the 8 phases, or a way to display the phases as they occurred in the month of January. THIS IS YOUR CHOICE! You may choose to do a “Flip Book”, A Lunar calendar, or some kind of poster or digital display.

Your projects is due in class on TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 7.  You only have one week. A (10 point penalty will be assessed for everyday the project is late)

When you finish you will need to turn in these three items:

  1. Your Moon Phases recording sheet (30 points)
  2. A paragraph about the moon phases and what you learned by recording them. (20points)
  3. Your creative way to display the 8 moon phases or all 31 days of the Lunar Cycle we recorded in class (50 points)

Have fun with this!    I know you will do a great job. !       ~ Mrs. McAlister
