About Us

Welcome to Wm. Lloyd Meador Elementary! Meador Elementary School is located in Willis, TX and is one of nine schools in the Willis Independent School District. Our school was named after William Lloyd Meador, a tremendous advocate for children in the town, and first opened its doors in 2008. Currently we have approximately 775 responsible and active learners in pre-kindergarten through 5th grade.

We are home to a community of students, who demonstrate an appreciation of good character. As a reminder of the importance of making appropriate choices and achieving personal bests, our staff chose to implement a positive behavior plan called C.H.A.M.P.S. At Meador Elementary our students are C.H.A.M.P.S. because they:

Come everyday
Help others
Achieve
Make good choices
Pawsitive attitude
Show respect

The Meador Elementary staff is a gifted group of educators committed to providing a challenging educational program for all students. Our staff works diligently to differentiate instruction based on the needs of each individual child. Through cooperative and engaged learning experiences, children who come from different cultures make new friends and stretch their imaginations. Our staff is dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing learning environment in which educational programs are designed to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of every child.

Improving literacy is a school focus across all grade levels. At Meador Elementary we provide a Balanced Literacy curriculum which integrates a structured guided reading program and a writing program that extends their thinking. Students are supported in small groups and intentional intervention/extension periods are implemented daily.

Meador Elementary is also a site for several district programs. One such program is designed to meet the needs of English Language Learners (ELL). The goal of the bilingual program is to have children become successful in a full English-speaking setting when they are academically ready. In addition, we offer a Gifted and Talented program based on data driven assessments and teacher recommendations. Another program we offer is our inclusion program. It provides support facilitation and specialized support to our special education students within the general education setting whenever appropriate.

At Meador Elementary we offer enriching learning opportunities for our students beyond the school day. Clubs organized by the staff include: National Elementary Honor Society, Student Council, Honor Choir, Science Club, Robotics, Rodeo Art, Recycling Club, Zero Hour PE and Scrabble Club.

We believe that strong parent involvement is essential to the success of our school. Teaming together for the success of our students is what makes Meador Elementary a wonderful place to learn. We are fortunate to have three very active parent groups involved with our campus. Our Watch D.O.G.S. program provides an opportunity for dads, uncles, and grandfathers to become role models for our students by volunteering to spend a day at school. Our Meador M.O.M.S. program also involves moms, aunts and grandmothers by inviting them to come work one on one with our students to support learning. We are also very fortunate to have an involved Parent Teacher Organization that supports learning by providing extra resources for the teachers and classrooms and facilitates teacher appreciation activities.
