WISD Health Services Offer Wellness Tips

WISD Health Services Offer Wellness Tips October 28, 2014 --The onset of somewhat cooler temperatures brings the advent of cold and flu season. WISD Nurse Coordinator Lou Ann Boehm, RN reminds parents and students that one of the most important ways to stay healthy is to wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Nurses provide lessons on how students can effectively wash hands on elementary campuses and offer reminders at secondary schools.

Always Ask - Poison Control

Always Ask - Poison Control Members of the Assistance League of Montgomery County were on hand to educate Meador Elementary Pre-Kindergarteners and Kindergarteners on the awareness and importance of poisons. Students were encouraged to ask if they are unsure of whether items are poisonous. Students took away valuable information and a goodie bag to take home to share with family members.
Willis High School football players read to students

Willis High School football players read to students Various classes enjoyed hearing from Willis High School football players. The players read some Halloween books and dropped by various classrooms to meet students. The players serve as role models for our younger students while modeling the importance of reading in school.
Moving Moving Moving

Moving Moving Moving Students in PE were moving, moving, moving on Friday. Coach Brown and Jonika use the Wii system to have students follow moves to various songs. The kids have a blast dancing to music while they practice following the moves on the screen.
Professor Go

Professor Go Meador Elementary students are fortunate to receive a visit from Professor Go on Friday. Professor Go showed the students how to make a delicious Apple Cranberry Salad. Professor Go continues to relay the message of balanced meals and trying new foods.

Breast Cancer Awareness has a special meaning to Meador Elementary Members of the Meador staff showed their support by wearing “Kelli is our HERO!” shirts on Thursday.

Box Tops for Education

Box Tops for Education We would love for all students to turn in Box Tops by Friday, October 31st. Turn them into your student's homeroom teacher in a baggie with the homeroom teacher and your student's name on it. Funds from the box tops goes to purchase items for student incentives throughout the year.

School Reach is Willis ISD’s message broadcast system. The service allows Willis ISD to communicate information by phone within minutes of an emergency or unplanned event that causes early dismissal, school cancellation or late start. It may also be used to convey general reminders or announcements. To review messages, call 855-955-8500 from the phone number to which the message was sent. Contact your child's campus if the number(s) you provided for the School Reach system to use should change.

The 2014-15 Student Handbook for Willis ISD has been uploaded for parents and students to review. Please find the Parent link above. It will list several options. Find and click on the Student Handbook and it will take you to the current school year handbook.
